About the role

Responsibilities

  • Leads, plans, schedules, and oversees the work of staff responsible for providing support to a diverse population of consumers and families/caregivers receiving behavioral health services.
  • Ensures completion of tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicates policies, procedures and job expectations.
  • Provides training to staff.

Requirements

  • Current or previously a consumer of behavioral services (such as mental health or substance use), or a parent or family member/caregiver of a behavioral health consumer.
  • Two years of full-time paid or volunteer experience as a peer counselor or advocate for children/youth or adults receiving behavioral health services or for their families or caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Principles and practices of leadership, mentoring, and training.
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to behavioral health services.
  • Operational characteristics, services, and activities of assigned programs and functions.
  • Crisis intervention techniques.
  • Methods and techniques to communicate effectively with behavioral health consumers, families/caregivers, the community, and treatment/care teams.
  • Cultural and social factors affecting behavioral health and recovery.
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other specialized applications related to area of assignment.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

  • Providing work direction and instruction.
  • Researching and evaluating work problems, and recommending solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining cooperative, effective working relationships with others.

  • Interpreting and applying applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Applying customer service skills, including the identification of customer needs and follow up to ensure customer commitments have been met.
  • Maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Composing and maintaining accurate and appropriate records of services provided.
  • Meting required timelines for referrals, follow-up, and coordination of care.
  • Aiding in the development and facilitation of educational forums, outreach materials, and training for staff, care team, and behavioral health consumers.

Benefits

  • Salary ranges based on program differential:
  • Homeless Engagement and Response Team (In the Field/Encampments): 5% increase, $51,543.32 - $56,827.01.
  • Community Wellness Response Team (CWRT): 10% increase, $53,997.77 - $59,533.06.
