Senior Backend Engineer, Data Platform

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate distributed data-intensive backend systems for various Data Platform capabilities
• Own and enhance production data infrastructures, including both streaming and batch pipelines
• Debug complex production issues across data pipelines and cloud infrastructure and participate in on-call rotation
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver reliable data capabilities for customers
• Contribute to architectural decisions and make trade-offs concerning scalability and reliability
• Enhance engineering standards, testing, deployment safety, and operational processes for Data Platform systems
• Write maintainable code and engage in code reviews and production readiness discussions

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience with emphasis on distributed systems or data-intensive platforms
• Proven experience in building, operating, and debugging production systems for large data volumes
• Hands-on knowledge of data pipeline, streaming, or batch-processing tools like Kinesis, Airflow, or Spark
• Familiarity with analytical and operational data storage solutions, particularly ClickHouse and Postgres
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, SQL, or Scala
• Understanding of backend engineering concepts like concurrency, data modeling, and high-throughput processing
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform) and observability tools (e.g., Datadog)
