Senior Backend Engineer (Big Data)

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality backend systems using Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL
• Design and implement REST/web services and complex SQL queries for relational databases
• Develop and optimize big data solutions using technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Presto
• Work with AWS services including EMR (Hive/Presto), ECS, Lambda, and S3
• Implement and manage DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and CloudFormation
• Write and maintain scripts in Unix Shell or Python
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical innovation and solve complex challenges

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record in leadership
• 3+ years of hands-on development experience in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL
• 2+ years of experience in developing REST/web services and writing complex SQL queries for relational databases
• 3+ years of experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Presto
• Proven experience with AWS services, including EMR (Hive/Presto), ECS, Lambda, and S3
• Working knowledge of scripting languages, including Unix Shell or Python
• Experience with LLM-based coding tools, maintaining a disciplined approach to validating outputs

Qualifications

• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their application in software development
• Previous exposure to financial services or analytics platforms
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders

Skills

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is a plus
• 10+ years of total software development experience, with substantial exposure to leadership roles
