Senior Backend Engineer

The Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, and maintain product features used by thousands of developers and hundreds of millions of end users. This hands-on individual contributor role requires taking ownership from problem definition through production and ongoing support. The position demands engineering expertise to develop high-performance, scalable systems alongside strong product sense to balance quality and timely delivery. The role is critical in ensuring reliable and impactful software that drives the organization's monetization platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend product features end to end.
• Collaborate with product teams to scope and prioritize work.
• Ship high-quality, well-tested code and maintain production systems.
• Monitor feature adoption and iterate to improve user experience.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers.
• Engage in incident response and on-call rotations.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and drive initiatives.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience building complex systems.
• Proficiency in advanced SQL.
• Strong quality standards and pragmatic decision-making.
• Customer-focused approach to development.
• Experience shipping meaningful user-facing features.
• Ability to quickly understand and improve existing codebases.
• Experience working with AI-assisted coding tools.
• Clear communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience building SDKs.
• Experience shipping mobile apps with in-app purchases.
• Some familiarity with React and single-page applications.
