Senior Back End Engineer, Data and Cloud

The Senior Back End Engineer, Data and Cloud will design and build scalable backend systems supporting the organization's enterprise SaaS platform. This role is responsible for tackling technical challenges related to distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data architecture, data pipelines, and AI-enabled features. The position contributes to delivering reliable, secure, and scalable systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to prioritize and execute product and technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and systems for the enterprise SaaS platform.
• Develop and maintain data systems including SQL databases, data pipelines, and data warehouses.
• Run AI-assisted coding sessions and manage multiple concurrent development tasks.
• Maintain cloud infrastructure focusing on reliability and performance, primarily on Google Cloud Platform.
• Ensure systems are secure, reliable, compliant, and scalable through strong engineering practices.
• Use infrastructure-as-code tools like Pulumi or Terraform to manage environments.
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Improve engineering efficiency via automation and AI-driven tools.
• Support global performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with SQL databases, data pipelines, and data warehouses.
• Backend engineering experience owning scalable production systems in SaaS environments.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Node.js and/or Python; openness to work with these languages.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform; AWS experience acceptable.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments.
• Familiarity with security and compliance in production systems.
• Experience using automation and AI tools to enhance developer productivity.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate within defined scopes.
• Effective collaboration and clear communication skills in technical contexts.
