Senior Aviation Military Analyst (Reconnaissance & Attack Operations)
About the role
JANUS Research Group seeks a Senior Aviation Military Analyst with extensive expertise in Army reconnaissance and attack aviation operations, capability development, and combat modernization. This position serves as the senior subject matter expert supporting Army Aviation operational analysis, capability development, requirements generation, and future force initiatives related to reconnaissance and attack aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior subject matter expert for Army reconnaissance and attack aviation operations and doctrine.
- Conduct operational and capability analyses supporting Army Aviation modernization and future force initiatives.
- Analyze the tactical employment of reconnaissance and attack aircraft to identify operational capability gaps and recommend solutions.
- Develop white papers, concept papers, operational concepts, requirements documents, operational views, and technical reports supporting government objectives.
- Lead and support aviation studies, operational assessments, and capability development initiatives.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Joint Working Groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and other collaborative forums.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve Army reconnaissance and attack aviation capabilities.
- Support Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) activities, including capability requirements development and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams conducting aviation studies, operational assessments, and technology evaluations.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and recommendations to senior military and government leadership.
- Review and edit technical products to ensure graduate-level quality prior to government delivery.
- Independently produce high-quality analytical products requiring minimal government revisions.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of Army Aviation flight/combat operations experience.
- Rated Army Aviator with extensive experience in Army reconnaissance and/or attack aviation.
- Senior Army Aviator Badge or Master Army Aviator Badge required.
- Demonstrated expertise analyzing the tactical operational employment of Army reconnaissance and attack aviation capabilities.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting capability management, combat developments, or force modernization initiatives.
- Experience planning, coordinating, executing, and facilitating Joint Working Groups.
- Experience leading aviation studies, operational assessments, or operational test events involving capability development and technology evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop graduate-level technical products, including:
- White papers
- Concept papers
- Requirements documents
- Operational views
- Technical analyses
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior military and government leadership.
- Ability to review and edit technical products to ensure high-quality deliverables requiring only minor government revisions.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Experience serving as a Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) in Army reconnaissance or attack aircraft employed by tactical Army Aviation organizations since 2010.
- Experience planning attack, reconnaissance, and assault missions within Army tactical aviation organizations comparable to:
- 24 AH-64 Apache helicopters, or
- 30 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
- Prior tactical operational management experience leading organizations of 400 or more personnel.
- Experience serving as the primary author of a Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) approved Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) document.
- Direct participation in an Army Aviation Capability-Based Assessment (CBA) supporting reconnaissance or attack aircraft.
- Experience supporting Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Army Futures Command, or Army Aviation capability development organizations.
- Knowledge of Joint force development, operational requirements generation, and Army Aviation modernization initiatives.
