Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough Digital Vehicle and Multi-Point Inspections with accurate measurements, notes, photos, and prioritized safety findings.
  • Lead diagnosis of complex mechanical, electrical, drivability, intermittent, and comeback concerns using scan tools, meters, and systematic testing.
  • Complete advanced electrical, drivability, and major mechanical repairs to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Validate every repair with road tests, relearns/resets, and safety-critical checks to help prevent repeat failures.
  • Support quality control by verifying repairs and flagging process gaps that drive comebacks.
  • Explain repair options, priorities, risks, and expected outcomes clearly to Store Managers and Service Advisors.
  • Help explain complex issues to customers to build trust and confidence.
  • Mentor and coach other technicians, sharing diagnostic and repair best practices.
  • Model safe work practices, use required PPE, maintain tools and equipment, and follow company policies and shop procedures.

Requirements

  • The right candidate is an experienced technician who can diagnose independently, communicate clearly, take pride in repair quality, and help raise the standard for the shop.
  • 5+ years of automotive technician experience performing diagnosis and repair across multiple vehicle systems, with demonstrated ability to handle complex repairs independently.
  • Advanced diagnostic capability using scan tools, meters, and service information, with the ability to create and follow a structured test plan.
  • ASE certifications appropriate to assigned work, or equivalent demonstrated competency, with commitment to ongoing training.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • State Inspector License, in applicable locations, or ability to obtain and maintain as required by the store.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.

Preferred

  • ASE Master Technician certification or multiple ASE A-series certifications.
  • L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist certification.
  • Experience with advanced drivability diagnosis, electrical diagnosis, and interpreting scan data, including freeze frame and live data.
  • Experience performing quality checks, comeback support, dispatch support, or other advanced repair services.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience with the ability to coach others on standard work and diagnostic best practices.
  • A high school diploma, equivalent, technical school, or vocational training.
