Position Summary
The Lead, Compliance is responsible for the independent leadership, planning, execution and reporting of audits and regulatory compliance of all attractions across the Company’s shipboard fleet and private destinations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Serve as Lead Compliance for attraction and aquatic system audits onboard ships (typically 1–2 visits per vessel annually) and at private destinations.
- Evaluate compliance with applicable international, regional, and local standards governing waterslides, aquatic and other attractions.
- Assess operational readiness, preventive maintenance practices, documentation, and safety controls.
- Review technical parameters including (but not limited to): Water quality and chlorination systems, Water pressure, flow rates, and hydraulic performance, Ride controls, restraints, safety features, and signage, Preventive maintenance records and operational logs, Training records, SOPs, and any other related documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of global waterslide, aquatic and other attraction standards, regulatory bodies, and industry best practices.
- Partner with operators, engineering, and third-party vendors to ensure alignment between design intent, regulatory requirements, and operational execution.
- Support leadership with defensible, well-documented analysis suitable for executive review and regulatory scrutiny.
- Produce clear, concise, and technically sound written audit reports with findings and conclusions.
- Cookordination audit activities and engage directly with shipboard leadership, shoreside departments, operators, engineers, and third-party vendors.
- Communicate complex technical findings in a way that is understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Present results, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Support the identification of systemic trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to strengthen governance, standards, and controls across the fleet and destinations.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal standards, audit frameworks, and compliance programs related to attractions.
- Ability to build a matrix, such as a score card or KPI, to gauge the performance of various attractions across the organization.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
- Degree from an accredited university in engineering or safety related to waterpark and attractions safety.
- At least 5 years of experience across safety, engineering, water-related attractions, or auditing, including significant hands-on experience with water attractions, aquatic facilities, or waterslide operations encompassing design, engineering, maintenance, operations, or compliance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of global waterslide and aquatic attraction regulatory frameworks and standards.
- Familiar with ASTM, EN, ISO, and any other relevant standards.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, or independent assessments in regulated or safety-critical environments.
- Strong investigative or audit skills, including experience with incident analysis and root-cause methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise professional judgment, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce structured, high-quality technical reports.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (approximately 70% or more), including international travel and short-notice deployments.

- Experience in amusement rides/attractions, cruise/maritime, industrial automation, or theme-park operations.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methods (PHA/HAZOP/FTA, ASTM), MOC workflows, and commissioning/acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).
- Experience with water management systems, hydraulics, or ride engineering parameters (e.g., flow rates, pressures, chemical controls).
- Prior experience in the cruise, hospitality, theme park, or large-scale leisure attraction industry.
- Certifications or formal training related to aquatic safety, ride audits or inspection, or engineering compliance.
