Senior Audit Manager- Team Lead - CSBB Ops

About the role

The Truist Senior Audit Manager provides a leadership role in delivering value-added, independent, and objective risk-based internal audit assurance and advisory services. This position develops and maintains specialization in financial services, risk management, and assists in line-of-business relationship management and risk monitoring. The Senior Audit Manager ensures audit projects comply with all organizational and professional ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of audit professionals, ensuring performance measures and metrics are established and met.
• Provide leadership in coaching and developing staff, promoting a workplace culture that values diversity of thought and accountability.
• Serve as Engagement Manager for large, complex, and higher-risk projects, including enterprise-wide audits.
• Lead planning, scoping, and development of audit test plans, incorporating data analytics and coordinating resources to complete assignments within budget while maintaining quality.
• Set clear quality expectations based on Truist Audit Services standards and analyze process documentation for effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop meaningful, well-supported audit reports aligned with Truist’s risk appetite framework and present them to key stakeholders.
• Advise on complex assignments with deep knowledge of the organization, business operations, and relevant laws and regulations.
• Leverage strong risk management expertise to assess audit findings, potential exposures, materiality, and broader issues.
• Coach and mentor new and junior team members, providing effective project feedback and setting clear performance expectations.
• Assist audit management in developing and maintaining relationships with assigned lines of business, evaluating risk profiles to ensure appropriate audit coverage.
• Participate in key projects and task forums, managing timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including audits and special assignments.
• Maintain and further develop specialization in one or more lines of business.
• Stay current with trends, developments, technologies, and practices in auditing, banking, and your area of specialization.
• Develop knowledge of auditing and data analysis techniques, championing innovative methods to achieve goals.
• Pursue continuing education and additional professional certifications as appropriate.
• Support Audit Directors with annual planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and providing feedback on team performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Eight to ten years of audit experience, preferably in a role similar to Audit Project Leader.
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in audit and a broad understanding of banking and financial services.
• Substantial leadership experience with demonstrated decision-making skills.
• Excellent understanding of risk management and process concepts.
• Strong analytical, facilitation, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to identify underlying concepts in complex information and communicate them effectively.
• Ability to identify root causes of problems and teach others to do the same.
• Proficiency in standard software applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Strong project management and advisory skills.
• Appropriate professional certification (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Public Accountant).

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree.
• Knowledge of Truist Audit Services audit software and business-specific software.

Pay

Annual base salary for this position is $160,000 - $183,700 (for work locations in Virginia only).
