About the role
The ideal candidate will provide legal advisory and support across the Company’s real estate operations, disputes, and transactional matters, and serve as a strategic partner to business stakeholders on a broad range of legal and real property issues.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents including commercial leases, amendments, estoppels, purchase and sale agreements, easements, SNDAs, demand letters, and other similar documents.
- Provide counsel to Real Estate Department and field operations on real estate matters.
- Cook up real estate due diligence in connection with M&A transactions with the Company’s M&A team and outside counsel.
- Oversee or conduct title and survey review, and manage resolution of title issues in connection with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing transactions.
- Manage landlord-tenant disputes, property rights matters, and related real estate controversies, including directing resolution strategies and coordinating with outside counsel.
- Proactively identify potential legal risks in real estate operations and policies, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local real estate laws and regulations.
- Advising on land use, zoning, permitting, and entitlement matters in connection with facility development, expansion, and operations.
- Manage and evaluate outside counsel to ensure high-value, efficient representation.
- Proactively manage the legal aspects of the Company’s real property portfolio, including identifying portfolio optimization opportunities.
- Research and evaluate legal and other technology tools for inclusion in the Real Estate Department and Legal Department’s optimization strategy.
- Fulfill other company-related legal functions, as needed.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (J. D.) from an accredited law school, excellent academic record, and active member in good standing in at least one State bar.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of relevant legal experience.
- Real estate transactional experience is a must.
- Ideal candidates will have a combination of law firm and in-house experience.

- Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
