Your Specific Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and prosecutes violations of state law and administrative rules by licensees.
  • Prepares recommended action for Probable Cause Panels, including dismissals, letters of guidance, or Administrative Complaints.
  • Presents cases before the probable cause panels.
  • Drafts pleadings, discovery, and legal memoranda.
  • Represents the Department before the Division of Administrative Hearings and in Circuit Court.
  • Timely and professional representation in all aspects of litigation, including trial preparation, motions practice, and post-hearing pleadings.
  • Maintains case files, reviews investigative and legal files, and responds to public records requests, inquiries, and other agencies regarding current cases.
  • Prepares and presents cases for final action before the boards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of rulemaking authority and process.
  • Knowledge of civil and administrative proceedings and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Must become a member of the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment to a position in this class.
