What You’ll Do
- Identify appropriate protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations
- Select protection devices and ensure proper equipment sizing and material procurement
- Prepare scopes of work, estimates, and drawing packages (wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-lines, three-lines)
- Perform load calculations for panels, battery systems, voltage drop, and other substation components
- Ensure adherence to client standards and industry regulations related to relay protection
- Provide field support and conduct pre-inspections for turnkey substation projects
- Interface with clients and vendors to ensure technical accuracy and project alignment
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Collaborate with internal teams to refine design and construction processes
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Experience: Senior Engineer: 7+ years in protection & control design within utilities or the energy sector; Associate Staff Engineer: 12+ years in protection & control design within utilities or the energy sector
- Skills: Strong knowledge of SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, and P&C engineering concepts; Experience in the electric utility industry; Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
