About the role

The Senior Associate of SPAR (StepStone Portfolio Analytics & Reporting) Client Service is responsible for providing portfolio analytics and reporting services for the Firm’s private markets investment clients and related portfolios. The Senior Associate will work closely with the Department’s senior leadership as well as other departments (e.g. Accounting, Research, Investor Relations) to support the Firm’s global investment activities. As a senior stakeholder, the role combines client management and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the department resource for client relationship management and act as account manager, overseeing all aspects of the client monitoring and reporting cycle for the Firm’s private equity and multi-asset client base.
  • Perform final review and sign-off for core client deliverables, ensuring key deadlines are established, met, and communicated.
  • Manage, anticipate, and communicate needs for relevant client deliverables, leading and delegating resources to ad hoc client projects as necessary.
  • Ensure succession plans and institutional memory are maintained (e.g., client lead backups, documentation of unique processes) to guarantee uninterrupted client service.
  • Continuously improve work processes and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other client service account managers to manage day-to-day team operations.
  • Develop, engage, and mentor junior staff through feedback, challenging work, and expanding responsibilities based on merit.
  • Reinforce Department-wide communications, initiatives, and training objectives for junior staff.
  • Promote skill development within the team by objectively identifying strengths and weaknesses to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Actively mentor junior team members (outside direct reports) and participate in team-building activities.
  • Maintain the highest standard of respectful communication to set the tone for the Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or business (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting and ability to learn new performance and portfolio reporting systems.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and/or teams.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to manage priorities against key deadlines.
  • Experience working with stakeholders across various departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated initiative, independence, and adaptability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to oversee execution of accurate, high-quality finished products.
  • Interest in global financial markets.

Pay

Salary range: $105,000 – $120,000. Actual pay may vary based on job-related factors such as location, education, skill, and experience. The range does not include benefits or other forms of compensation.
