About the role
The Property Tax – Complex Advisory/Compliance Senior Associate will lead a team of personal property analysts in managing the property tax cycle for Kroll’s clients in the power generation, midstream, telecommunications, and complex sectors. Responsibilities include gathering data, preparing returns and renditions, reviewing assessment work papers, interfacing with assessors, and assisting with business development.
Responsibilities
- Gathering data on valuation analytics (income approach valuations, obsolescence calculations, etc.)
- Client communications on data requests and inquiries regarding property tax matters
- Return and rendition preparation based on client data
- Reviewing assessor workpapers, models, and valuation inputs
- Contacting assessors to gather assessment information, file appeals, process settlement documents, and coordinate with valuation team members
- Aiding in driving business development activities, both individually and as part of a team
- Aiding in overseeing, managing, and performing property tax compliance tasks such as asset preparation, return/rendition preparation and review, tax bill processing, and management reporting
- Coordinating with off-site team members on mail responsibilities, returns, notice processing, and bill payment processing
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent years of property tax-related experience
- 3+ years of relevant personal property tax compliance and/or advisory experience
- Excellent project management and presentation skills, including superior verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent relationship management skills and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Knowledge of personal property taxes and procedures of various state and local jurisdictions
- Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office Outlook
- Quick learner and ability to work with teams and individually
