Job Description
The Production Planner plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program (i.e., product line) units to meet requirements. Advises operations and program management of the status of work in progress & risks to meeting internal master schedule. Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers and quality are critical to the role.
Essential Functions
- Develops, manages and optimizes internal master schedule for assigned programs in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering and Material Management
- Releases work orders to production floor based on internal master schedule, material availability and current capacity; manages complex scheduling scenarios
- Maintains manufacturing conformance to master schedule using ERP systems and reports. Expedites needed make items based on master schedule
- Directly oversees operational measures including but not limited to efficiency, floor inventory accuracy, release on time and on time delivery. Reports variances and action plans to address.
- Manages and controls manufacturing floor stock for assigned programs; recommends inventory optimization strategies
- Advises management of work in progress status, material availability, and potential production problems involving personnel, equipment, materials and services; leads resolution efforts
- Collaborates with respective process owners to coordinate scheduling of shared equipment and personnel
- Works under general supervision
- May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area
- May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area
- May manage projects at this level with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment either as a production planner, master scheduler, demand planner, and/or supply planner
- Experience using an ERP system with MRP & MPS capabilities
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, highly proficient in Excel (e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables), Power BI and has skill in preparing tables, graphs, and charts
- Experience Trackstar Front End, Cognos Reports, and MTS systems
- APICS Certification
- Leverage Lean Manufacturing Certification / Training
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management peers and subordinates
