Emerson has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Associate General Counsel, Regulatory Compliance that can be based at one of our Emerson US corporate offices in the cities listed with this posting. Provides legal support to business units and functions on complex, high-profile matters while leading legal professionals within the Emerson Law Department. Leads Emerson's legal strategy and compliance programs for data privacy, cybersecurity, and related regulatory matters. Serves as a strategic advisor to IT, Cybersecurity, HR, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Product Development teams, partnering with senior leadership to ensure compliance with global technology laws and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior level advice to the relevant business unit(s) on complex, high profile legal matters, including: cybersecurity requirements; incident preparedness, response and breach notification obligations; vulnerability reporting, communication plans and incident remediation; data privacy and cross border transfers; artificial intelligence; records management and retention; and other relevant information governance and technology laws.
• Acts as lead attorney and strategic business partner for Emerson business leadership globally on all privacy and technology laws.
• Directly manages and otherwise leads a regional team of legal professionals, supporting their individual development, project management and program execution.
• Oversees and manages Emerson Law Department colleagues and outside counsel to ensure compliance with Emerson policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Provides regular training to business unit and legal department personnel with respect to applicable regulations, procedures and best practices.
• Keeps business unit(s) and Law Department management fully advised of all significant developments concerning all material matters in a timely fashion.
• Exercises good professional judgment, acts with integrity, and drives results at all times to protect and enhance the image and reputation of Emerson and the Law Department.
• Supports the Vice President of Regulatory Compliance and Legal team in: technology laws including cybersecurity, data privacy and AI; incident management; implementing corporate policies throughout all applicable divisions; strategic projects in different areas (e.g. leading the implementation of various legislation, applicable new directives and regulations); relevant employment laws as they relate to privacy; records management.
• Oversees the post-acquisition legal integration process of newly acquired companies with regard to all applicable legal areas.
• Drives the evolution and implementation of the vision, mission, strategy and initiatives of the Regulatory Compliance Team and Legal Department.
• Serves as the lead legal resource for the Company's cybersecurity and privacy function and works closely with various departments across the company to help develop scalable solutions.
• Monitors, tracks and assesses the rapidly evolving landscape of privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations.
• Reviews and interprets legislation and regulations and becomes fully knowledgeable about global, federal and state statutes and associated industry standards.
• Provides oversight and financial management of outside counsel in accordance with Law department guidelines.

Requirements

• Relevant level of work experience in a commercial and international field (in-house or private practice) commensurate with the level of the position.
