Senior Associate - Full Stack Engineer
Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week

Responsibilities
- Write clean, well-tested & secure code, exhibit ownership from requirements to development.
- Deeply understand existing architecture on the back end as well as the front-end side to be able to enhance and improve architecture going forward with a key focus on scalability and quality.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of the requirements around user experience to deliver high quality, cross-platform optimized and responsive web front-end experience.
- Focus on getting the required depth of functional expertise to effectively suggest solutions to business problems/requirements.
- Work with designers, engineers, product management, and business stakeholders to deliver and enhance new/existing capabilities.
- Learn new technologies as needed and apply them to business solutions. Stay abreast of new/upcoming technologies in the market.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate coding workflows, improve code quality, and increase productivity.
- Create and maintain technical specifications, design documents, and documentation using Markdown format to support AI-driven development workflows.
- Demonstrate detail orientation with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proactively own, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that arise.
- Ensure compliance with NYL security standards.
Requirements
- Experience with the ReactJS framework, HTML5, and CSS3 is a must.
- Experience with C#, Java, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, debugging, and documentation.
- Ability to write clear technical specifications and prompts in Markdown to effectively leverage AI coding assistants for development tasks.
- Understanding of prompt engineering principles to maximize productivity with generative AI tools in software development workflows.
- Experience with content management is a plus.
- Experience in designing and implementing microservices is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of designing secure and performant RESTful APIs, with expertise in authentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth, JWT, SSO).
- Strong expertise with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles, including version control (GitHub), and CI/CD.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying technical gaps and proposing actionable solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey ideas across technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or another related technical field.
- Candidates who have completed full stack development/coding bootcamps or equivalent industry recognized certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect) will also be considered in lieu of a technical undergraduate degree.
- A master's degree in computer science or related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
Pay
Salary Range: $100,000 - $143,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
