Senior Associate, Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support

Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated full-time Senior Associate to join our Detroit office located in Southfield, MI. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of engagements and industries while working closely with clients and senior team members. This position offers significant exposure to complex financial, litigation, and valuation matters, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement based on performance, initiative, and leadership potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute financial analyses across litigation support, forensic accounting, and valuation engagements with limited supervision.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, operational data, and other financial information to support engagement objectives and develop informed conclusions.
  • Create sophisticated and flexible financial models used in damages analyses, valuation assignments, and litigation support.
  • Conduct forensic accounting procedures, investigative analyses, transaction testing, and data synthesis to identify issues and support findings.
  • Prepare schedules, reconciliations, detailed analyses, and supporting workpapers for client deliverables and expert reports.
  • Draft reports, memoranda, client communications, and other written deliverables with clear, concise, and well-supported conclusions.
  • Prepare and refine financial models, exhibits, presentations, and supporting documentation for reports, expert testimony, and client presentations.
  • Participate actively in client calls, meetings, and engagement discussions while building strong working relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with and provide guidance to Associates and junior team members as appropriate.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and high-quality work product.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including client research, proposals, pitch materials, presentations, and attend networking events.
  • Learn and develop an understanding of accounting, finance, operational, and industry-specific considerations across a diverse client base.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support engagement success and firm objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of experience in litigation support, restructuring, insolvency, forensic accounting, valuation, consulting, accounting, or corporate finance.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, MBA, CFA, CFE, ABV, CVA, CIRA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation and financial acumen.
  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex financial and investigative information into clear conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented, and deadline-driven environments.
  • Comfortable working with incomplete, evolving, or unstructured financial and operational data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation tools preferred.
  • Aptitude for both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and initiative.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working directly with law firms, lenders, private equity sponsors, distressed companies, or corporate clients.
  • Candidates with experience in public accounting seeking to transition into advisory or consulting work are encouraged to apply.
  • Advanced financial modeling and scenario analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with GAAP, financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies, and fraud investigation procedures.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing junior team members’ work.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in rapidly changing engagement environments.
