Senior Associate, Equities - Global Consumer Staples
Role Summary
We are recruiting for a Senior Associate to join our Securities Selection team in our Active Equities department. The successful candidate will be joining a domain team which focuses on companies within the Global Consumer sector. Reporting to the Managing Director, Security Selection, the Senior Associate is responsible for conducting sector focused, deep bottom-up fundamental research primarily on investment ideas and current portfolio holdings. The position can be based out of our New York, Toronto or London offices.
Accountabilities & Qualifications
- Work directly with investment professionals on the Global Consumer Staples domain team to evaluate potential long and short public and pre-IPO investment opportunities in the Global Consumer Staples sector
- Develop and execute investment research and make recommendations leveraging domain expertise and deep fundamental research insights within Global Consumer Staples sector
- Participate in meetings with company management teams, industry experts, and attend industry and broker conferences as part of the research process, with travel where necessary
- Develop detailed company financial models and perform valuation analysis, including DCF and comparable company analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
- Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment memos and due diligence reviews
- Research, analyze and monitor macro level industry trends and fundamental performance of existing portfolio holdings
- Increasingly incorporate research insights by leveraging alternative data sets
Qualifications
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree; advanced degree (Masters, MBA, etc.) or certification (CFA) an asset
- The ideal candidate will possess 6-10 years of experience working in investment research or equity research
- Knowledge and passion for investing and the Global Consumer sector
- Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, technical and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively
- Core technical skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bloomberg
- Advanced technical skills: Python, SQL, exposure to Big Data workflows and analytic tools
- Strong communication, written and verbal skills
- Highly detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work
- Ability to prioritize work and simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities
- Team-oriented and collaborative
- Keen interest in capital markets and the investment research process
Pay
The salary range for this position is: USD $185,000 - $260,000 US state/city legislation requires CPP Investments to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The base salary range shown here is a reasonable expectation for the posted role and is part of a competitive total rewards package which includes comprehensive benefits, a performance-based incentive plan, a 401 (k) plan and paid time off.
