Senior Associate Counsel
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Associate Counsel for our growing concrete business, Concrete Strategies, a subsidiary of Clayco. The role involves:
- Completing contract administrative duties such as reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating construction subcontracts, purchase orders, MSA's, and other related contracts.
- Assisting with project change orders, contract modifications, disputes, and claims.
- Supporting the General Counsel with responses to contract-related claims and managing documentation for mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Providing advice and training on commercial contracts, including subcontract and material supplier contracts, vendor and service contracts, and lease agreements.
- Maintaining and updating legal and other databases with current information on pending matters.
- Preparing litigation status reports.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and preparing litigation status reports.
- Assisting with Project change orders, contract modifications, disputes, as needed.
- Assisting General Counsel with responses to contract related claims.
- Advising and training business admin teams on commercial contracts.
- Maintaining and updating legal and other databases with current information on status of pending matters.
- Reviewing and responding to third party subpoenas and litigation discovery requests.
- Reviewing and responding to claims of lien against project sites / real estate by third party subcontractors or material suppliers.
- Reviewing and preparing lien wavers and related affidavits.
Requirements
- A law degree is required.
- 2-4 years' experience with construction real estate matters.
- Understanding of commercial construction contracts, material supplier subcontracts, AIA form contracts, and purchase orders.
- Motivated, hardworking, team player.

The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
