About the role

The Capital Markets department is responsible for sourcing capital, executing transactions, and maintaining long-term relationships with Orenda’s financing partners. The team oversees project M&A, project financing, tax-equity, and strategic transactions on behalf of the Company.

Responsibilities

  • Deal Leadership: Take responsibility for every function required to execute our transactions. Considered the point-person on every deal on which you’re staffed, both with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Timeline Management: Ensure transaction milestones / deadlines set out by our management team are executed on schedule, despite inevitable challenges.
  • Presentation Deliverables: Function as the lead writer on Confidential Information Memorandums (“CIMs”) and Lender Presentations.
  • Financial Modeling: Engage in financial modeling directly, as well as manage the work product of our analysts. Superior competency in financial modeling of various types (specifically related to asset-level operations, project finance and equity) is expected.
  • Cohesive Teamwork: Interface with virtually all teams in the Company, including Project Origination, Project Execution, and Asset Management.
  • Coordination with External Consultants: Complete third-party reports and manage Q&A with independent engineers, market consultants, tax advisors and legal counsel.
  • Q&A Review: Ensure all information communicated by the Company is both an accurate and an appropriate representation of the project(s) and/or the Company.
  • Closing Checklist Management: Understand all required objectives required to close our transactions; actively manage the completion of those objectives.
  • Support on Development-Level Issues: Problem-solving unforeseeable issues that may arise; willing to roll their sleeves up whether an objective is (or isn’t) part of their job description.
  • Mentorship: Supervise and train our analysts so to ensure 100% accuracy in our work products, as well as their continued growth as professionals.
  • Additional Support: Play a support role for Relationship Sourcing & Management, Commercial Negotiation, Transaction Structuring, Documentation Review, Documentation Negotiation, and Resolving Key Obstacles to Closing.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, ideally in the areas of Finance, STEM, or comparable path of study; Graduate degrees are a plus.
  • Company Experience: 5+ years of experience with an investment bank, project finance lender, developer (capital markets role), or tax equity investor. The Senior Associate need only have experience in one of the areas of M&A / project finance / tax equity, but will be expected to eventually master all 3.
  • Transaction Experience: Active role in numerous live transactions (not including portfolio management). While the typical responsibilities of financial modeling, presentation building, etc. will be valued, prior experience with transaction management / leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Sector Experience: Power & utilities, infrastructure and / or oil & gas strongly preferred. Prior knowledge of BESS technology / BESS markets is encouraged, but not required.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring work from our headquarters (Brooklyn, NY) five days a week.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: The anticipated base salary range for this full-time position in New York City is $100,000-$200,000 per year. The final base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
  • Bonus: In addition to the base salary, this role is also eligible for significant annual performance-based bonus.
