Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Represent insurance carriers, self-insured entities, and corporate clients in complex litigation
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
  • Draft and argue substantive motions in state and federal courts
  • Conduct fact investigations, legal research, and case evaluations
  • Prepare litigation strategy recommendations and exposure analyses
  • Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and court appearances
  • Collaborate with partners and clients on litigation strategy and risk management
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and support staff as needed
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and effective case management

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Texas Bar admission in good standing
  • 6+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
  • Experience handling complex civil litigation matters
  • Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom skills
  • Ability to independently manage cases with minimal supervision
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities

Skills

  • Experience representing insurance carriers, insureds, or self-insured entities preferred
  • Trial experience or significant first-chair litigation responsibility strongly preferred
  • Exceptional communication and client-management skills
