Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
- Represent insurance carriers, self-insured entities, and corporate clients in complex litigation
- Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
- Draft and argue substantive motions in state and federal courts
- Conduct fact investigations, legal research, and case evaluations
- Prepare litigation strategy recommendations and exposure analyses
- Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and court appearances
- Collaborate with partners and clients on litigation strategy and risk management
- Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
- Supervise and mentor junior associates and support staff as needed
- Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and effective case management
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar admission in good standing
- 6+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Experience handling complex civil litigation matters
- Strong deposition, motion practice, and courtroom skills
- Ability to independently manage cases with minimal supervision
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities
Skills
- Experience representing insurance carriers, insureds, or self-insured entities preferred
- Trial experience or significant first-chair litigation responsibility strongly preferred
- Exceptional communication and client-management skills
