About the role
We're excited that you're considering joining us at Law Mom® as a Senior Associate Trusts and Estates Attorney based in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced attorney to step into a high-level role, providing expert estate planning services to our valued clients. This is an in-office position where you’ll be working alongside a collaborative team and will have the chance to lead, mentor, and make an immediate impact.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to high-net-worth individuals and families on trusts, wills, probate, and related matters.
- Lead and manage complex estate planning, probate, and administration cases.
- Draft and review estate planning documents with precision and care using Wealth Counsel software.
- Jump in on sophisticated trust and estate issues and collaborate with our legal team to provide the best outcomes for our clients.
- Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Engage with clients directly to understand their needs, build lasting relationships, and maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality.
- Execute and handle client-facing design meetings.
- Answer client questions with ease and knowledge.
- Answer legal team questions with ease and knowledge.
- Manage and oversee paralegals.
- Ensure legal staff is supported in meeting KPI requirements.
- Host webinars and workshops within the community (minimum of 2 nights per month required).
Requirements
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Massachusetts Bar and NH Bar is a plus!
- A minimum of 5+ years of sophisticated experience in trusts and estates law.
- Elder Law experience preferred.
- Expertise in estate planning, trusts, probate law, and taxation related to estate matters.
- Proficiency with Wealth Counsel is a must.
- A tech-savvy mindset and the ability to learn and use legal technology effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and approachable manner.
- A desire to mentor, lead, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent bedside manner.
- Excellent knowledge of income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax matters. Plus, if you know tax return preparation.
- An LLM in taxation is preferred.
