About the role
As Senior Associate, Analytics, you will work with a team of analysts, data scientists, and engineers to deliver on a federal contract which ensures millions of Americans have the information they need to get access to affordable healthcare. This role will play an instrumental role supporting a team to create robust data models, troubleshoot issues, improve documentation, ensure data quality, and manage data automation. They will have a key role in managing a data platform that supports web applications via APIs as well as analytics workflows built by data analysts and data scientists. Your track record should reflect domain knowledge in data analysis, data modeling and ingestion, including experience adapting to changing technologies, business logic, and client priorities. This program aims to increase access to quality healthcare by supporting public outreach campaigns for Healthcare.gov. The Senior Associate, Analytics role sits within our Analytics and Data Science team, responsible for transforming raw data into clean, well-modeled datasets and interpreting our data into actionable business insights. Positioned between data engineering and data analysis, this role utilizes SQL and dbt to build robust data pipelines, implement data quality testing, and maintain the foundational data models used for reporting and data science.
In this position you will
- Create SQL-based data models in dbt. This includes working with data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts both to refactor legacy code, and to build new data transformations that meet business requirements for clients and consumers.
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and domain stakeholders to translate business needs into well-modeled datasets.
- Work closely with Data Engineers to transition analytical logic into optimized warehouse queries, learning about database performance tuning and data warehouse architecture (e.g., Snowflake) on the job.
- Implement data quality checks (dbt tests, sources, freshness) and contribute to monitoring data reliability.
- Maintain clear documentation for datasets, lineage, and transformation logic.
- Query the data warehouse using SQL to answer urgent business questions, identify trends, and provide data-backed recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports (using Report-as-Code, Positron, and Tableau) to track key business metrics and performance indicators.
- Gain a deep understanding of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its regulatory frameworks, learning how policy mandates, marketplace changes, and compliance rules directly impact enrollment behavior and messaging to consumers.
- Investigate data discrepancies to identify patterns and find solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, data scientists, program managers, and external stakeholders to troubleshoot problems and proactively create solutions.
- Take ownership of task areas and strive to independently resolve challenges in order to deliver accurate products on short deadlines.
- Complete such other reasonable tasks as may be assigned by management.

- Ability to deeply research both the business logic of ingested data as well as the business logic needed to build derivative data products. Comfort with performing independent discovery.
- Interest in investigating problems, solving puzzles, and finding patterns in complex data, as well as proposing solutions that improve both technical performance and end user satisfaction.
- Comfort working independently to drive portions of larger projects, using organizational objectives and sound judgment to guide your work.
