About the role
The SJSU King Library at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for a full-time, tenure-track Business Librarian position beginning in October 2026 or earlier.
Responsibilities
- Support student learning by working collaboratively with business faculty to facilitate the effective use of curriculum-specific information resources.
- Provide reference, consultative, and instructional services to undergraduates, graduate students, teaching faculty, and researchers in synchronous and asynchronous formats.
- Engage in the selection and evaluation of information resources that support the curricular and research needs of business programs, faculty, and students.
- Create, implement, and assess user-centered library services and programs for assigned departments.
- Maintain familiarity with current and emerging research, scholarly communication trends, as well as AI technology in business.
- Build a record of scholarly and professional achievement to fulfill the University requirement of retention, tenure, and promotion.
- Participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
Requirements
- Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent international degree.
- Experience or coursework in information literacy instruction and reference services.
- Evidence of potential to maintain an ongoing agenda in scholarly research and professional development at appropriate levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree or equivalent training/work experience in a business-related field.
- Experience with designing, implementing, and assessing library programs and services.
- Experience in academic libraries.

Pay
This is a probationary, 12-month, tenure-track position at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank; salary commensurate with qualifications and experience (anticipated range: $90,000 - $91,000).
