Senior Assignment Desk Editor

Responsibilities
- Monitor and identify breaking news stories, trends, and developing events across national and international news sources.
- Cook up daily news gathering operations for broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with news sources, public agencies, stringers, and field crews.
- Book guests, experts, officials, and live interviews for news programs and special coverage.
- Collaborate closely with executive producers, producers, reporters, digital teams, and streaming news operations.
- Assign and prioritize stories based on editorial value, audience impact, and platform needs.
- Write and distribute clear editorial notes, story summaries, and breaking news updates in Spanish.
- Aid in coverage planning for major news events, elections, severe weather, and special projects.
- Ensure accuracy, urgency, and editorial standards across all content and communications.
- Be available to travel when required for major news events, special coverage, and breaking news situations.
- Work extended and flexible hours as dictated by breaking news and live event coverage.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience at a national assignment desk within a major news organization.
- Strong background in national news coverage and breaking news operations.
- Experience working with streaming news platforms and digital-first news environments.
- Proven booking experience with high-profile guests, officials, and contributors.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in Spanish.
- Strong editorial judgment and ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple stories simultaneously, across multiple markets.
- Familiarity with newsroom systems, social media monitoring tools, and digital publishing workflows.
- Experience working in Spanish-language news environments and a strong understanding of U.S. U.S. Hispanic audiences and media consumption habits.
