Essential Functions
- Review annual and quarterly financial statement analyses for multifamily and senior housing properties identifying individual property and portfolio level trends
- Perform property inspections nationwide (requires about 25% travel), complete inspection reports, and make risk mitigating recommendations to reduce financial, operational, and reputational risks for the lenders
- Analyze trouble assets, including non-performing and distressed properties to determine appropriate next steps
- Manage a portfolio of high-risk loans, monitoring performance and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Regularly review risk ratings on properties using both an internal matrix and various agency guidelines
- Consistently review and analyze portfolio level data to identify emerging risks both at the individual deal level as well as portfolio level
- Recommend transition to and from Special Assets when it is apparent that a property has materially declined or improved
- Review and approve replacement reserve disbursement requests based on property condition and future capital needs
- Review and approve releases from other escrows including repairs, insurance loss, rental achievement, etc.,
- Understand and assist in the review of special requests such as transfers, easements, partial releases, management changes, insurance losses, etc. on high-risk loans
- Prepare analyses and reports as required by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and JLL for Special Assets
- Identify and evaluate troubled markets and sub-markets and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and evaluate trends in actual property operations compared to underwritten property operations
- Use technology and other available tools to identify potential mortgage fraud
- Attend industry conferences and calls to stay apprised of new developments
- Absorb and assist in the development and writing of internal policies and procedures, as required
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Knowledge of real estate markets, valuation methodologies, and loan structures
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency
- Strong math, verbal, writing, and organizational skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to operate under demanding deadlines
- Able to multitask and work on several transactions simultaneously
- Able to recognize and mitigate risk
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to work independently and in teams
- Able to travel as needed
