About the role

This is a newly created seat built specifically around our LIHTC growth — not a backfill into someone else's shoes. You'll work directly with a technical, hands-on Director of Asset Management who genuinely enjoys mentoring on the details. There's a real path to building and leading your own team as the portfolio scales, with high-visibility presenting portfolio performance directly to executive leadership. We foster an entrepreneurial, low-ego culture with an "ownership mindset" at every level.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own asset management plans for a growing portfolio of LIHTC assets
  • Monitor lease-up of LIHTC properties, ensuring adherence to proforma and compliance with applicable regulations (partnering with an internal compliance team)
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic site inspections, internal and third-party
  • Review and approve annual operating budgets, delivered to project partners on time
  • Monitor financial performance of each asset against budget and proforma
  • Ensure projects hit key milestones — equity installments, loan earn-outs, and tax credit testing requirements
  • Lead cross-functional "critical path" meetings for underperforming assets, coordinating marketing, talent acquisition, and other stakeholders
  • Present portfolio condition monthly to executive and senior leadership
  • Partner with Capital Planning on lifecycle capital plans; flag variances during budgeting season
  • Support responses to governmental, equity, and lending agency inquiries
  • Manage property insurance for the LIHTC portfolio (placement, renewals, claims)
  • Become a market expert in new submarkets as the portfolio expands
  • Supervise financial analyst(s) as the team grows

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in commercial real estate, finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in asset management (a mix of traditional finance and asset management experience will be considered)
  • Meaningful, hands-on LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) experience required, including compliance exposure
  • Proficient Excel skills; able to learn new systems quickly
  • Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting skills for upper management
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or experience in a managerial capacity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable holding property management teams accountable while operating as a true partner
  • Fully on-site; minimal travel (site visits as needed)

Pay

$132,000–$155,800 per year, plus annual bonus target and relocation assistance.

Benefits

  • Medical/dental/vision insurance
  • FSA/HSA options
  • Paid family leave
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 3 weeks PTO plus holidays
  • Wellness reimbursement
