Senior Architect

About the role

Join the Network Operations Systems Group, a team that develops innovative solutions crucial to deploying and maintaining Akamai's global network, which carries over 20% of the world's web traffic. We empower Network Infrastructure, Operations, and Engineering teams to work faster, reliably, and more efficiently through collaboration and continuous improvement.

As a Senior Architect, you will design, develop, and maintain high-reliability systems supporting Akamai's Connected Cloud of 300k+ servers worldwide. You will collaborate in an international environment with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders and developers, to deliver high-quality software solutions focused on automation, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with product management and engineering teams to describe and design solutions aligned with Akamai's strategy and roadmap.
• Present and support architectural designs and technical visions to internal cross-functional teams.
• Define and implement standards for systems design, development, comprehensive testing, and quality assurance practices.
• Design reliable, high-quality, usable software that meets business needs for robust, scalable, and highly available systems.
• Conduct research on emerging trends and technologies related to network operations and automation.

Requirements

• 12 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
• Solid experience in distributed system architecture design and implementation, with a track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and secure solutions.
• Ability to present and support architectural and security designs and technical visions to internal cross-functional teams.
• Experience in the software development life cycle, including in Unix/Linux environments.

Pay

For US-based candidates, the base salary for this position ranges from $169,300 to $304,700 per year. A candidate’s salary is determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive opportunities such as annual bonuses, equity awards, and participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
