About the role

The Modeling and Optimization (MOP) Routing Science team at Amazon is seeking a candidate with strong analytical and algorithmic skills to contribute to improving the last-mile experience through algorithmic and analytical work.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art solutions to large-scale optimization problems, collaborating with software development engineers.
  • Apply knowledge of combinatorial optimization, algorithms, algorithm engineering, and data structures to vehicle routing and related problems.
  • Utilize Data Science and Machine Learning techniques to identify and evaluate opportunities to reduce variable costs by optimizing transportation networks, inventory placement, operations, and scheduling.
  • Contribute to network planning, modeling, and analysis to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of global fulfillment operations.
  • Develop metrics to quantify improvements in fulfillment costs, such as transportation and labor costs.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to build machine learning models or develop algorithms for business applications.
  • PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field, or Master's degree and 10+ years of industry or academic research experience.
  • Strong background in programming languages like C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications.
  • PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field, or Master's degree and 10+ years of industry or academic research experience.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
  • Experience in applied research.

Skills

  • Combinatorial optimization, algorithms, algorithm engineering, and data structures.
  • Familiarity with Data Science and Machine Learning techniques.

Pay

$192,200.00 - $260,000.00 USD annually
