Senior Applications Developer (Data Architect)
About the role
The City of Pasadena Department of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Senior Applications Developer serving as a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of the City’s enterprise data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Leading the continued development of the City’s modern data platform, including Microsoft Fabric and enterprise analytics environments.
Advancing the City’s enterprise data strategy by enabling trusted, scalable, and self-service analytics across departments.
Partnering with business stakeholders, application developers, ERP team, and project teams to define data requirements.
Partnering with reporting teams to design data models that support enterprise analytics.
Partnering with departments to translate operational workflows into sustainable data models and reporting solutions.
Ensuring compliance with organizational data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in management information systems, computer science or a closely related field.
At least six years of progressively responsible experience in application configuration, development and systems analysis.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience building enterprise data models and supporting business intelligence and reporting solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
Experience designing dimensional or semantic data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
Experience developing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions supporting enterprise applications and analytics platforms.
Experience working directly with business stakeholders to define data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse, Data Factory, or analytics workload.
Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or other cloud data platforms.
Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar orchestration tools.
Experience building dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data catalogs.
Knowledge of the .NET Framework and ASP.NET web development using C# is highly desirable.
