About the role

The City of Pasadena Department of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Senior Applications Developer serving as a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of the City’s enterprise data ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the continued development of the City’s modern data platform, including Microsoft Fabric and enterprise analytics environments.

  • Advancing the City’s enterprise data strategy by enabling trusted, scalable, and self-service analytics across departments.

  • Partnering with business stakeholders, application developers, ERP team, and project teams to define data requirements.

  • Partnering with reporting teams to design data models that support enterprise analytics.

  • Partnering with departments to translate operational workflows into sustainable data models and reporting solutions.

  • Ensuring compliance with organizational data governance policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in management information systems, computer science or a closely related field.

  • At least six years of progressively responsible experience in application configuration, development and systems analysis.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience building enterprise data models and supporting business intelligence and reporting solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power BI.

  • Experience designing dimensional or semantic data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.

  • Experience developing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration solutions supporting enterprise applications and analytics platforms.

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to define data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse, Data Factory, or analytics workload.

  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or other cloud data platforms.

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar orchestration tools.

  • Experience building dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data catalogs.

  • Knowledge of the .NET Framework and ASP.NET web development using C# is highly desirable.
