Senior Application Engineer - Transmission & DistributionLocation: (Travel Required) About the OpportunityA fast-growing developer of advanced transmission infrastructure technology is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support utility, EPC, consultant, and transmission customers across North America. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, customer support, field operations, testing, and industry engagement, helping customers successfully implement innovative overhead conductor solutions. What You'll DoSupport utility and transmission projects utilizing advanced conductor technologiesReview transmission line designs, loading conditions, clearances, and conductor requirementsPerform conductor application evaluations including ampacity, sag-tension, thermal performance, and mechanical loadingCollaborate with utilities, EPCs, consultants, and transmission engineering firmsSupport technical studies, design reviews, customer meetings, and engineering presentationsDevelop technical documentation including application guides, specifications, and technical bulletinsProvide field installation support, technical training, and troubleshootingParticipate in qualification testing and validation activitiesRepresent the company within industry standards organizations and technical committeesTranslate customer feedback into future product and application improvements What You'll BringBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field7+ years supporting transmission or distribution projectsUnderstanding of transmission line design principles and overhead conductor applicationsExperience working with utilities, EPCs, engineering consultants, or conductor manufacturersStrong customer-facing communication skillsExperience creating technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentationAbility to travel to customer sites, field installations, and industry events Preferred ExperiencePLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, SAG10, or similar transmission softwareConductor installation practices, stringing, sagging, and field supportIndustry standards participation (IEEE, ASTM, ANSI, IEC, CIGRE)Mechanical, electrical, thermal, or conductor qualification testingPower engineering fundamentals including AC/DC transmission systems Why This RoleWork directly with utility customers and major transmission stakeholdersBlend engineering, customer engagement, and field support responsibilitiesInfluence industry adoption of innovative grid technologiesParticipate in standards development and technical committeesHigh-visibility role with significant impact on critical infrastructure projects
