Senior Application Engineer - Aerospace - Control Systems

About the Role

This is a hybrid role that enables you to split your time between the office and home, combining in-person collaboration with flexible at-home work. As an Application Engineer at MathWorks, you will manage technical relationships with key Aerospace customers, helping them integrate MathWorks products into their design and development processes. You’ll work with a world-class team to provide technical leadership, understand customer workflows, and demonstrate how MathWorks tools can accelerate innovation. This position is based in Torrance, CA, with 30-40% travel, primarily in Southern California.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand their projects, programs, and workflows, and offer solutions using MathWorks products.
• Advocate internally on behalf of customers to ensure their needs are understood.
• Create and deliver presentations and product demonstrations highlighting how MathWorks tools address customer needs.
• Scope technical projects and coordinate with specialists to address customer needs in specialized areas.
• Identify new application areas and collaborate with development and marketing to create messaging and demonstrations for future product direction.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master’s degree and 3 years, or a PhD, or equivalent experience).
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction; visa sponsorship will not be provided.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Qualifications

• Experience in the Aerospace or Defense industry.
• Expertise in aerospace systems, control system design, modeling and simulation, or embedded software development.
• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., DO-178C), Model-Based Design, Simulink, or software development lifecycle is a plus.
• Strong business acumen, technical sales experience, or product development experience.
• Passion for listening to customers and solving their challenges.
