How You Will Make an Impact
The Senior Apparel Designer should have a strong background in apparel and sublimated design decoration. This position will be responsible for trend forecast and design, conceptualizing and creating designs, overseeing design, and working closely with the Innovation team to ensure the final production files meet the design specifications. Our ideal candidate has a strong portfolio of innovative designs and a keen eye for color and detail. Sport-minded, driven by fresh new looks. Bringing new ideas to life, this position will be a pillar in our assortment planning process.
What You Will Do
- Create and develop designs for our Private Label Sublimation category, based on current category trends and market research by SportCreate and present design ideas to team members and stakeholders
- Adjust designs based on feedback from Cross-Functional Teams, Sales, and market research
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging design trends across all sports inclusive of collegiate and professional teams
- Collaborate with the Innovation Team to ensure designs are accurately achieved
- In-depth knowledge of the entire design process, from concept to production, is needed
- Create or visualize an idea and produce a design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Develop a concept for a collection, by Sport
- Create graphics for internal use, when needed
- Build strong relationships with all Cross-Functional Team members
- Attend all scheduled design and development meetings
- Assistance with file reproduction, when necessary
- Other Private Label creative projects, as assigned
Qualifications
- A positive attitude and the ability to build relationships with Cross-Functional Teams
- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative design skills
- Knowledge of textiles, fabrics, and fashion trends
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- The flexibility to work irregular hours, when required
- A high school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years in Design and Development, Degree Design or Apparel Merchandising a plus
- Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
- Proficient in design software, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop required
- Must be able to use computer-aided design (CAD) programs and understand textiles and fabrics
Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment. It is largely a sedentary role, with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The ability to sit or stand for long periods during meetings and while operating office equipment, PCs, laptops, and telephones will be required.
