Senior Android Engineer

Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced Android applications for the Clover Go platform.
- Work on mission-critical features, including building our new Soft POS capabilities, which will enable merchants to accept payments directly on their mobile devices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA, and Backend) to define, design, and ship new features that are scalable, reliable, and performant.
- Drive the technical architecture and implementation for our international expansion into new markets like APAC and the EU.
- Develop specialized features to support our growth in the Restaurant and Service verticals.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Kotlin and/or Java.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high standards of code quality.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, and optimize application performance and memory usage.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Android trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to other engineers on the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Android application development.
- Expertise in Kotlin and Java, with a strong understanding of the Android SDK and ecosystem.
- Deep knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVP, or MVI.
- Familiarity with modern Android libraries and frameworks (e.g., Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Dagger/Hilt, Retrofit).
- Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Espresso) and building automated tests.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an agile environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with payments and/or point-of-sale systems is highly desirable.
- Experience with internationalization and localization is a plus.
Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $210,000.00
These pay ranges apply to employees in Sunnyvale, California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ. It is unlawful to discriminate against a prospective employee due to the individual's status as a veteran.
For incentive eligible associates, the successful candidate is eligible for an annual incentive opportunity which may be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards in the Company’s sole discretion.
