Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced data professional to join our high-performing team. This role involves driving business growth through the data foundation to unlock strategic and analytical insights. Key responsibilities include building the data warehouse, data pipelines, and orchestration and observability frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Model data into usable and scalable formats to drive embedded and self-service analytics
- Lead the Data team in developing models, alerts, semantic models, and metrics for stakeholders and partners
- Identify and execute on opportunities for advanced analytics and complex models
- Optimize existing models for cost and performance
- Build strong relationships with engineering and business stakeholders
- Implement technical integrations with engineering stakeholders
- Own pipeline reliability, orchestration, alerting, and observability across batch and streaming systems
- Provide analytics support when needed, building dashboards in Sigma, performing complex analyses, and partnering with business stakeholders
- Promote use of self-service AI analytics tools
Qualifications
- Data professional with a strong bias towards action and delivery of results quickly
- Strong communication skills, able to explain sophisticated systems to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Engineering-minded, able to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Experience implementing advanced alerting and monitoring, building resilient systems and processes
- Bias towards AI, using AI coding assistants and MCP servers to automate processes and create leverage for the business
- Heart-first contributor, able to deliver complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- 6+ years of experience in analytics engineering or data engineering
- Deep fluency in SQL, with experience in a modern data warehouse (BigQuery preferred)
- Familiarity with Terraform, Java/Python, PostgreSQL replication into Materialize, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Clickhouse, AlloyDB, Redis, dbt, and Airflow
- Experience with dbt, building alerting and observability frameworks, and generating documentation
- Experience with data ingestion technologies such as CDC, file-based ingestion, and managed connectors
- Experience with a variety of BI tools and building solutions for self-service and general business observability
- Experience with reverse ETL solutions and syncing data assets to downstream services
