Senior Analyst, Tax
The Finance team ensures accurate financial operations and plays a crucial role in managing the Firm’s financial health. The team handles financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, partner compensation, payroll, treasury, cash flow management, inventory management, billing, collections, and analysis of client, matter, and timekeeper profitability. It oversees statutory accounting, compliance with financial regulations, and prepares financial statements and reports to provide insights into the Firm’s financial performance. The team collaborates with other functions to monitor expenses, optimize financial processes, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
About the role
The Senior Analyst, Tax is an integral part of the Global Tax & Compliance function. This function prepares the Firm’s US tax filings, manages partner tax payments in 30+ countries, and ensures compliance with local tax rules. The Tax Team handles annual and quarterly reporting of tax information to partners worldwide, provides information for local tax filings, and monitors tax compliance globally. The Senior Analyst, Tax is involved in all aspects of tax compliance, partner tax and capital accounts reconciliations, and related analysis and reporting. This role requires working independently in a fast-paced, global environment with a focus on detail, analytical skills, and strong communication.
Responsibilities
- Prepare various schedules and work papers for the Firm’s Partnership Tax Returns (All Jurisdictions).
- Maintain the Firm’s legal entities and tax organizational charts.
- Analyze transactions and prepare work papers for book-to-tax differences.
- Prepare and/or review non-income tax returns and related schedules (insurance, property tax, sales tax).
- Supervise Tax Team Members in the preparation of Partners’ K-1s and all supporting spreadsheets.
- Review checklists and account reconciliations prepared by other Tax Team members, such as forms and elections, charitable contributions, membership fees, and partner costs schedules.
- Provide quarterly and year-end tax estimates to the Partners.
- Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and tax extensions as required.
- Gather information for non-US offices for foreign tax reporting.
- Submit tax payments to Manila for AP Processing.
- Prepare journal entries to record tax liabilities on the partner’s accounts receivable.
- Assist in the preparation of capital account reporting to partners.
- Maintain documentation of all tax issues/guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of Firm’s Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) filings.
- Gather data from foreign offices on foreign tax payments and assist in preparing foreign tax schedules for quarterly and year-end reporting to partners.
- Prepare or review partner cash flow statements and departure calculations as requested.
- Communicate with accountants regularly to ensure accuracy in monthly reporting and analyze tax issues.
- Perform special projects as requested by management, partners, and accountants.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-5 years’ experience in public and/or private accounting.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of 3E system preferred (will train).
- Experience with Alteryx, AI, or other automation tools preferred.
- Tax software experience a plus (Insource and/or PwC Partax).
- Ability to handle a deadline-oriented environment and work well under pressure.
