This role requires strong analytical skills to develop financial and statistical models to help the company reduce interest expense, optimize its capital structure, and manage working capital requirements. The analyst will understand the drivers of financial risk and identify cost-efficient risk reduction strategies to improve the company’s financial performance. The analyst will play a key role in meeting Treasury and Finance Departments’ policies and regulatory requirements by ensuring compliance with all debt securities indentures, covenants, and agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analytics and Debt Strategy
    • Evaluates and analyzes capital structure decisions and measures their impact on income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, and financial metrics.
    • Evaluates financial risk as it relates to treasury operations, including but not limited to annual interest expense, amount of debt outstanding, size of commercial paper program, revolving credit facilities, credit rating agencies, debt/equity offerings, and investment strategy.
    • Completes routine treasury activity including but not limited to financial reporting, risk hedging, and liability management.
    • Analyzes and assists with execution of financing plans and interest rate risk hedging strategies.
  • Treasury Operations and Compliance
    • Monitors and maintains the Treasury Compliance Calendar and proactively completes day-to-day compliance activities.
    • Ensures compliance with the provisions in financing agreements (indentures, supplemental indentures, credit agreements, servicing agreements, etc.).
    • Supports Treasury activities related to rate case and recovery mechanism filings.
    • Provides support to regulatory, accounting, audit, investor relations, and other functions with respect to financing activities.
    • Develops documentation to support financial decision making and achieve program compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, or finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial analysis work experience.
  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification(s) preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Working Conditions

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work indoors in an office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, equipment, and noise when at field installation sites.
  • Able to work regular hours, with occasional or mandatory overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts.
  • Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
