About the role

The New York Times is looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Data and Insights Group (DIG). As part of the Data and Insights Group (DIG), you will join a large community of talented analysts who partner with Product, Newsroom, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Strategy, Finance and PMO teams across the business. The ideal candidate will be curious and a collaborative team player. They are someone who understands the value of contribution to a greater whole and the importance of analytic delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate data-driven insights, champion them and drive them into action
  • Build and maintain centralized reporting dashboards and automated reports to expand access to data and analytics
  • Write SQL to build pipelines and analyze large datasets
  • Run A/B tests, deliver test analysis and insights and advise on future tests and next steps
  • Advise business stakeholders on areas of opportunity
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working with data analytics or data science teams to deliver reporting, analysis and insight
  • 1+ years of experience applying statistical methods to analytical problems
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • Proficiency in at least one additional scripting language like R or Python
  • Experience with data visualization and presenting insights from data
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency working effectively with cross-functional teams
  • A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working in big data environments such as BigQuery or AWS, querying 10M+ rows
  • 1+ years of experience working in dbt or other data transformation or scheduling tool
  • 1+ years of experience with version control (Github, code review)
  • 1+ years of experience with A/B testing

Pay

The annual base pay range for this role is between $101,000 - $114,000 USD.
