About the Opportunity

The Senior AI Data Scientist role is responsible for designing and implementing machine learning systems that enhance enterprise search, retrieval, recommendations, and AI agents. The position involves developing evaluation methods to measure the impact of large language model-powered applications and building scalable pipelines for processing AI interaction data. By applying advanced statistical and causal inference techniques, the role supports product development and strategic decisions. This position contributes to advancing the organization's AI platform and shaping its technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build machine learning systems for search, retrieval, recommendations, and AI agents.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks and metrics for LLM-powered applications.
  • Create scalable data and ML pipelines for large-scale AI interaction data.
  • Apply statistical modeling, experimentation, and causal inference to guide development and strategy.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to translate research into features.
  • Analyze product usage and customer behavior to enhance AI adoption and user experience.
  • Prototype and deploy AI capabilities using foundation models, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Define key performance indicators and develop analytical frameworks to inform strategy.
  • Influence technical direction by identifying new machine learning and generative AI opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members and establish best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Data Science, Applied Machine Learning, or quantitative research (or 3+ years with a PhD).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Economics, Physics, or related quantitative field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience in scalable data and ML pipelines.
  • Deep knowledge of statistics, experimentation, causal inference, and predictive modeling.
  • Experience deploying machine learning models in production.
  • Familiarity with large-scale datasets and modern data infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of LLMs, embeddings, retrieval systems, RAG, or AI agents.
  • Strong analytical skills to convert ambiguous problems into measurable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment.

Pay

Salary range between $179,000 and $217,000, commensurate with experience.
