Cenovus Energy is seeking a talented individual to join our Toledo Refinery in a Senior Advisor role focused on Supply Chain Management (SCM) Turnaround for US Downstream Operations. This position will serve as the single point of contact for all Toledo Refinery turnaround events, demonstrating procurement expertise and strategies throughout the turnaround agreement lifecycle.

About the role

The Senior Advisor will provide procurement-related services for turnaround events, from pre-planning to close-out. The role involves collaborating with the US SCM Team to determine when to leverage existing agreements or create standalone agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the Procurement Sourcing Record (PSR) for each turnaround event to ensure timely completion of all contracting activities.
  • Develop and implement individual contract strategies, including negotiation tactics, in collaboration with SCM team members across US refineries and corporate offices in Canada.
  • Advise the Turnaround Manager and team on contractual and commercial issues to ensure compliance.
  • Source labor, services, and materials for US Downstream Operations using Cenovus Sourcing Practice, including strategy, award, and contract documentation.
  • Assemble and review RFP documents for scope of work, performance requirements, and delivery schedules, ensuring alignment with Cenovus Energy’s internal procedures.
  • Reconcile commercial and technical proposals with the RFP requestor.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions in cooperation with Legal Counsel, Risk Management, Maintenance, Operations, and Technical Services personnel.
  • Conduct post-award administration of contracts.
  • Assist in resolving purchase requisition and purchase order issues raised by business unit partners.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; post-secondary degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field and/or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification considered an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience in procurement or a closely related work environment.
  • Background in the oil and gas industry, particularly within an integrated oil and gas company, considered an asset.
  • Experience in turnarounds, major construction projects, and/or refinery operations considered an asset.
