SENIOR ADMINISTRATOR, MENTAL HEALTH

Non-bargaining unit compensation plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and assistance to elementary, middle, high school, and learning community staff.
• Provide monitoring and training on best practices for the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of students.
• Manifest a professional code of ethics and values.
• Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous, and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light.
• Model the routine, intentional, and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization, and management tasks.
• Monitor successful development of social, emotional, and mental health programs.
• Plan professional development for personnel responsible for social, emotional, and mental health initiatives.
• Monitor the use of mental health services within OCPS as well as support SEDNET and referral to outside counseling organizations.
• Foster communication amongst stakeholders from various departments for the purpose of increasing student achievement.
• Collect, analyze, and compose data reports.
• Inform supervisor, through written and oral reports, of issues related to the student management system.
• Responsible for making hiring recommendations.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to direct reports.
• Able to problem solve and provide continuous, constructive feedback.
• Regularly monitor, evaluate, and assess staff performance.
• Create specific, measurable goals for direct reports and specific work area.
• Able to communicate and collaborate effectively.
• Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines and the district’s instructional initiatives.
• Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
• Develop leadership in subordinates.
• Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS.
• With the support of the district, attend training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
• Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
• Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends, and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution required; Educational Leadership preferred.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate, or have applied for a Florida teaching certificate, or licensure through Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling.
• Three (3) years of administrative or leadership experience in a district-based or school-based position, or as a member of a school leadership team.
• Two (2) years of experience in a position related to school-based counseling or mental health services.

Skills

• Knowledge of leadership, organization, and management theory and practice.
• Knowledge of the teaching and learning processes.
• Knowledge of social, emotional, and mental health programs and initiatives as well as research-based best practices.
• Knowledge of Florida anti-bullying statutes and policies.
• Possess understanding of elementary, middle, and high school guidance functions.
• Knowledge of mental health counselor functions and exceptional student education compliance for mental health counselors.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, facilitate group consensus, and planned decision making.
• Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus resources to this goal.

Reports To

Director, Mental Health Services

Supervises

Program Specialist, Mental Health and may supervise instructional support personnel, mental health counselors, school counselors, and classified personnel.

Physical Requirements

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

Note: Will total more than 100 percent as several activities may be performed at one time.
