About the role
You will serve as a technical leader for our metals additive manufacturing efforts, with a primary focus on operating and supporting industrial metal 3D printing systems in our Salt Lake office. In this role, you will bring hands-on expertise in laser powder bed fusion and apply your knowledge of engineering drawings, CAD files, and part requirements to help customers understand how metal additive manufacturing can support their goals.
Responsibilities
- Operate and support industrial metal 3D printers with a focus on laser powder bed fusion processes.
- Partner with the sales team as a key applications resource, helping guide technical conversations with customers, supporting part evaluations, and representing GoEngineer’s capabilities in metals additive manufacturing.
- Review drawings, CAD files, and part requirements to assess fit for metal additive manufacturing workflows.
- Provide technical guidance on how parts can be designed, evaluated, and discussed within the metal 3D printing process.
- Support customer-facing meetings, including larger opportunities where deep applications expertise is needed.
- Run and oversee metal printing activities in the Salt Lake lab environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers to explain technical considerations, process capabilities, and application recommendations.
- Represent GoEngineer at key trade shows and industry events as needed.
- Travel with the sales team for selected customer visits and business development opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to help advance the growth of the metals side of the business.
- Contribute to a high-quality customer experience by helping align technical expectations with practical manufacturing outcomes.
- Support a presentation-based interview process by demonstrating the ability to speak confidently about topics in metal additive manufacturing.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating industrial metal 3D printing systems required; 5 years is ideal.
- Strong hands-on experience with laser powder bed fusion technology.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and part geometry in support of additive manufacturing applications.
- Demonstrated understanding of metal additive manufacturing processes in an industrial environment.
- Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to both internal teams and customer audiences.
- Experience supporting application discussions, technical evaluations, or customer-facing engineering conversations.
- Background from a service bureau, manufacturing environment, aerospace, defense, or other industrial setting is highly relevant.
- Experience with machining or CNC-related processes is helpful, but not required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant technical experience preferred.
