Position Purpose

Responsible for designing, leading, and overseeing vehicle-level ADAS/ADS testing and feature-level validation, from test scenario development and test equipment configuration to test execution on closed test tracks and public roads. The role also covers test result analysis and safety validation prior to commercial deployment or submission for regulatory/homologation approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Scenario Design: Develop and maintain vehicle-level test scenarios and test cases in accordance with ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO 3450x series, ISO 22737, current Euro NCAP protocols, and applicable domestic/international homologation requirements.
  • Test Equipment Setup: Set up, calibrate, and operate steering/braking/throttle robots, RTK-GNSS positioning systems, dummy/soft targets for VRUs, and other measurement equipment required for dynamic testing under NCAP/ISO protocols.
  • Test Execution: Conduct and supervise testing activities on Closed Test Tracks (CTT) and public roads within approved ODDs, including ADAS Level 2 testing and advanced testing targeting ADS Level 3/4 in accordance with SAE J3016, where required.
  • Data & Log Analysis: Analyze CAN/CAN-FD logs, camera/radar/lidar sensor logs, ADAS/ADS system logs, and synchronized video data to identify root causes of failures or abnormal behaviors, including disengagements, near-misses, and false positives/negatives.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare test reports, acceptance records, and evidence packages for Safety Cases and regulatory/homologation submissions, ensuring full traceability of test results and assessments.
  • Technical Coaching & Supervision: Train, guide, and provide technical supervision to Junior Test Engineers and Safety Operators during field testing, ensuring compliance with vehicle testing safety procedures.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with EE, Software, and Functional Safety teams to define pass/fail criteria, update release-gate procedures, and participate in Safety Case reviews before ODD expansion or OTA deployment.

Requirements

  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Professional Experience: 2–3 years of experience in ADAS Level 2 system testing or equivalent at an automotive OEM, Tier-1 supplier, or independent testing center. Experience with ADS Level 3/4 testing based on the SAE J3016 classification or L2+ is highly preferred.
    • Driving Experience: 2–3 years of practical driving experience with strong knowledge and hands-on use of ADAS features such as ACC, LKA/LCA, AEB, ELK, Highway Pilot, etc. Strong understanding of system behavior, limitations, and Operational Design Domain (ODD).
    • Physically fit and able to work outdoors under tropical weather, including heat and heavy rain, and travel to remote test tracks or other provinces when required.
    • Testing & Equipment: Hands-on experience developing test scenarios and operating test equipment such as steering robots, brake robots, GST/soft-target platforms, in accordance with ISO 26262, ISO 21448, Euro NCAP, homologation requirements, or equivalent international standards.
    • Data Analysis: Ability to extract, interpret, and analyze CAN/CAN-FD logs, ADAS/ADS system logs, and sensor data using tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Vector tools, or equivalent internal tools.
    • Driving License: Valid B2 or higher driving license. Clean and safe driving record. Physically fit for extended driving, including sufficient vision, reaction capability, and ability to operate safely under driving pressure.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Certification or hands-on experience with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO/SAE 21434 (Cybersecurity), or ISO 34502 (Scenario-based Safety Evaluation).
    • Experience working under ASPICE, Waterfall, or Agile development processes.
    • Experience participating in witness tests with regulatory authorities or international certification organizations such as DEKRA, TÜV, CATARC, JQR, or MIROS.
    • Proficiency in Python/MATLAB for log processing, automated analysis scripts, or KPI dashboard development.
    • Good technical English reading and comprehension skills; ability to communicate and work with international experts/partners is a plus.
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Software, Safety, Legal, and Remote Operation Center (ROC) teams.
    • Good understanding of Vietnamese traffic conditions, including high motorcycle density, unpredictable crossing/cutting-in behaviors, and tropical weather, with the ability to translate these characteristics into localized test scenarios.
