Senior Actuary, Outcomes
About the role
Maven is seeking a Senior Actuary, Outcomes to join the Clinical Outcomes team. This role is crucial for projecting claims and savings, conducting retrospective analyses, and supporting value-based care arrangements. The ideal candidate should have formal actuarial credentials or extensive experience in actuarial or healthcare analytics.
Responsibilities
- Own claims and savings projections and retrospective analyses across Maven’s employer benefit programs, including performance guarantee assessments, value-based care arrangement modeling, and spend and enrollment projections.
- Build, maintain, and scale actuarial and ROI models in Excel, ensuring methodological rigor and integrating models into team workflows for self-service use.
- Conduct actuarial confidence evaluations to inform revenue recognition decisions and assess financial risk in value-based arrangements.
- Support RFP responses with actuarial projections, benchmarking, and methodology documentation.
- Contribute to thought leadership through white papers, research publications, industry conferences, and collaborate with Marketing to reach actuarial and benefits audiences.
- Manage external actuarial vendor relationships, serving as the owner and subject matter expert on scoping and quality of deliverables.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring an FSA, ASA, or equivalent actuarial credential (or meaningful progress toward credentialing), or a graduate degree with 6+ years of directly relevant actuarial or healthcare analytics experience. They must have strong analysis design, modeling, and data manipulation skills, with the ability to synthesize findings into clear, client-ready outputs. Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting to external audiences are essential, including experience presenting technical material to non-technical audiences.

- Deep familiarity with healthcare claims data, including medical and pharmacy claims structures, PMPM/PBPM cost modeling, and trend analysis.
- Passion for improving maternal and family health outcomes through data-driven innovation.
Skills
- An FSA, ASA, or equivalent actuarial credential (or meaningful progress toward credentialing), or a graduate degree with 6+ years of directly relevant actuarial or healthcare analytics experience.
- Strong analysis design, modeling, and data manipulation skills, with the ability to synthesize findings into clear, client-ready outputs.
- Comfort working in both a coding language (SQL preferred) as well as in Excel, and strong ability to use AI to produce and QA code for data exploration and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting to external audiences (e.g., clients), including experience presenting technical material to non-technical audiences.

- Base salary range: $149,000 - $170,000 per year.

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $149,000-$170,000 per year.
