About The Role

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to build deep expertise in casualty reinsurance operations. In this role you will be an essential partner to our team of Actuaries and Underwriters supporting Financial Lines products spanning Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers, Medical Malpractice, and Transactional Risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure high costing adequacy in treaty pricing across all Casualty lines of business (General Liability, Umbrella, Motor, Professional Lines, and Workers' Compensation) with a focus on Professional Lines.
  • Understand and quantify the impact of factors such as contract features, underwriting exposures, legal, regulatory, and societal trends.
  • Effectively communicate pricing and portfolio analyses to cross-functional deal teams and senior management, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
  • Lead and contribute to diverse actuarial projects, aimed at providing quantitative support to our Casualty Underwriting Office and Regional Underwriting Teams to improve underwriting performance and portfolio steering.
  • Represent and position Swiss Re as a leading player in the Casualty space by engaging with clients, brokers, and industry associations and actively participating in renewal calls, meetings, and underwriting audits.

About You

You are an exceptional actuary with a proven ability to combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to deliver and communicate effectively on your analytics. You thrive in dynamic environments, are naturally curious, and are motivated to take ownership of complex challenges. With a collaborative mindset and strong business acumen, you excel at building partnerships and driving innovation in the Casualty space.

Key Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience in a reinsurance or primary pricing or reserving function for Casualty lines of business.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is required.
  • Working towards an ACAS/FCAS designation with minimum 3 exams.
  • Knowledge of US Casualty (re)insurance markets and underwriting approaches (Exposure to E&O, D&O, or Medical Malpractice coverages is a plus!).
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage deliverables, and achieve measurable results.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex analyses to diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset with demonstrated success in fostering teamwork and building partnerships.
  • A natural desire for continuous learning and self-improvement.
  • Willingness to travel domestically on a limited basis, primarily for client engagements.
