About the Role
The Senior – Accounting Methods role offers growth, flexibility, and a collaborative work environment within the Federal Tax Strategies team. This team specializes in tax strategies involving the timing and character of income, expense, capitalization, and cost recovery to meet tax objectives. You will consult on accounting methods, conduct research, and collaborate on projects to implement tax strategies for clients.
Responsibilities
- Consult on accounting methods-related issues, including automatic and non-automatic accounting methods changes such as revenue and expense recognition, inventory, capitalization, cost recovery, and accounting periods.
- Conduct research on accounting methods tax issues to expand your knowledge base.
- Participate in accounting methods projects, including client interviews, reviewing client data, preparing calculations, analysis, and supporting tax form filings.
- Collaborate with managers, directors, principals, industry leaders, and other business personnel across the firm.
- Coach or mentor staff to enhance their skills and further their career development.
- Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in an effective and reliable manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- 2 years of relevant experience (required).
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exam (preferred).
- Experience in business services, public accounting, or consulting (preferred).
- Experience in accounting methods (preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access (preferred).

Pay
Compensation at CLA emphasizes collaboration and career growth, with pay ranges varying by geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge. The following ranges apply to this position:
- California: $87,000.00 – $146,000.00
- Illinois: $74,000.00 – $131,000.00
- Massachusetts: $87,000.00 – $141,000.00
- Minnesota: $74,000.00 – $126,000.00
- New York: $96,000.00 – $146,000.00
- Virginia: $93,000.00 – $141,000.00
- Washington: $80,000.00 – $136,000.00
