Senior Accounting Manager, Manufacturing Operations

About the role

The Factory Plant Senior Accounting Manager oversees all plant-level accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls at Amkor’s manufacturing facility in Peoria, Arizona. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial performance visibility. It supports operational efficiency, drives cost discipline, and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and Amkor’s corporate policies. The position reports to the Controller of Amkor Technology Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Review journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare balance sheet and income statement analytics with fluctuation explanations.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for the factory.
• Coordinate with corporate accounting on consolidation, technical accounting, and external reporting requirements.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Amkor policies.
• Oversee standard costing, cost rollups, and variance analysis (labor, overhead, material).
• Analyze manufacturing variances and partner with operations to drive cost improvements.
• Manage inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.
• Ensure accurate accounting for WIP, finished goods, and scrap.
• Partner with plant leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Provide actionable insights on cost drivers, capacity utilization, and efficiency metrics.
• Support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning, tracking, and asset accounting.
• Drive financial discipline in manufacturing operations and investment decisions.
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements.
• Support external and internal audit activities.
• Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, inventory, and fixed assets.
• Lead or participate in ad-hoc analysis and special projects as assigned.
• Identify and drive continuous process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Initially serve as an individual contributor; manage a team as operations scale up, with potential to succeed the Controller.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
• Minimum of eight (8) years of accounting/finance experience.
• Strong background in cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP technical accounting and internal controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment; semiconductor or high-tech industry preferred.
• Public company and SOX compliance experience preferred.
• Experience with financial systems (ERP such as SAP/Oracle preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional designation such as CPA, CMA, or CFA.
• Semiconductor or high-tech experience.

Location

This position is based at the temporary Phoenix, AZ site during construction and will transition to the Peoria, AZ site once factory operations begin.
