About The Role

As a Senior Accountant specializing in cost and project accounting, you will play a critical role in strengthening our accounting foundation and supporting financial accuracy across our growing commercial and defense programs. You will own key areas of the accounting process, including cost accounting, project-level financial tracking, month-end close activities, reconciliations, and reporting, while helping build scalable processes as the company grows. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role requiring strong accounting fundamentals, analytical problem-solving, and experience working across complex cost structures. You’ll partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate cost allocation, financial reporting, and process improvements, while providing support for government contract compliance activities as needed.

  • Set up and maintain projects in NetSuite, including budgets, project structures, and cost tracking requirements.
  • Track and reconcile project-level costs; prepare monthly variance analyses against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support project closeout activities including final billing, revenue true-up, and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly project financial reports and cost analyses for finance leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Analyze direct and indirect costs, allocations, and cost drivers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage month-end cost accounting activities including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc support for government contract compliance, including FAR/CAS requirements and DCAA audit activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with T&M contract billing, cost-reimbursable contracts, and incurred cost submissions.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and data aggregation skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Contracts, and Program Management teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across a portfolio of contracts in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years in government contract accounting (FAR/CAS/DCAA compliance).
  • Active CPA license or CPA eligibility.

Pay and Benefits

We’re looking for someone who has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, demonstrated experience with T&M contract billing, cost-reimbursable contracts, and incurred cost submissions, proficiency with NetSuite and Excel, strong analytical and data aggregation skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities across a portfolio of contracts in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment. Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position. Please reference the job posting’s subtitle for where this position will be located. For pay transparency purposes, the base salary range for this full-time position in the location listed is: $110,700 USD to $135,897 USD annually.
