About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the vibrant hotel and restaurant industry, where you will be a key player in the accounting and finance department. The successful candidate will manage the financial health of our multi-location operations, ensure all financial transactions are accurate, and provide timely and accurate financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Handle month-end close procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and inter-company account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable financial rules and regulations, including GAAP.
- Oversee the preparation of accruals and prepaids.
- Manage accounting reporting for multiple locations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Utilize and maintain accounting systems including MRI and Great Plains.
- Work closely with restaurant operations to resolve cash, deposits, and chargeback issues.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and implementation.
- Collaborate with external auditors, providing necessary information and preparing requested documentation.
- Maintain and implement internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Continually improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Experience in the hotel and restaurant industry is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software, specifically MRI and Great Plains.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
